We Are Like Trees

Updated: Jan 9

I've been reading stories from individuals who are sharing their life experiences. These stories are either meant to reminisce with others of special moments, to inspire them, to enlighten them, to convince, or to simply make them smile.

Reading these stories encouraged and inspired me to share my story as well; it's not just a straightforward story; I want others to remember that we all started out small and that it's our responsibility to grow.

This story exists because I want everyone who sees it to be inspired and motivated to keep growing and flourishing in their aspirations.

I'm picturing myself back to a time when I was in my province, just relaxing on a hammock and swinging in the shade of trees. Large trees tower above me, and on a lovely summer morning, their leaves shimmer in the light breeze. These trees are well anchored in the ground. I am being welcomed within, toward solitude. My thoughts then turn to how trees continue to grow, much like humans do.

Either they are growing or they are deteriorating. The same may be true about ourselves. If we don't grow to be better versions of ourselves, we will deteriorate and lose our edge over others.

We all began small, exactly like a tiny seed that is determined to grow despite any challenges or endeavors. Our seed is subsequently planted, just as how humans thrive in the natural world. It then continues to grow over time. Everyone embarks on the same journey and grows in fertile soil together, as I imagined.

As time passes, these seeds sprout into little saplings, which later grow into a gnarled, woody, dormant tree. As I swayed on a hammock, I felt the sun sweep my face as it filtered through the canopy of leaves above me, and I was struck by the realization that the trees benefit from these golden, dazzling rays of light just as much as people do. Moreover, Almost all living things on Earth receives nourishment from the sun, which also warms us from the inside out. The Sun serves as a beacon that directs us toward contentment and existence. It frequently just takes a stride into the sunlight for us.

Small drips of water from yesterday night's deluge began to trickle on my parched skin as I swayed in my hammock beneath the canopy of leaves. I was struck by this; isn't it intriguing? Trees depend mostly on sunlight and water, and they seek space for their roots to grow. Water and sunlight are most likely the two most vital elements to human existence. Trees also require space for their roots to flourish. They will not develop to their maximum capacity if they do not have adequate area for their roots. The same could be said for you and me; we require space and room to thrive.

I laid down under one of these trees after swinging back and forth with my hammock. As I contemplate, I observe numerous birds living on the trunks of these trees trying to strive and survive. Just like trees provide room for other creatures, we as humans may utilize our artistic pursuits to make room for others to live, learn, and grow.

But trees can also face such obstacles, even though they give benefits to our the world. Trees burning due to wildfires, trees falling due to heavy storms triggering landslides, or just being cut down. The same may be said of our situation. However, what matters most is that even if these obstacles may appear terrible, don't allow them to cut off your aspirations and prevent you from growing. What counts is how we overcome it, much as how much trees confronted the powerful wind of difficulties.

We, like trees, grow throughout time.
